The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, will meet with the young reporters who took part in this year’s AIPS Centennial project: “100 Olympic Stories told by 100 Young Reporters from 100 Nations” in a virtual roundtable scheduled for 3pm CET on 5 November 2024 via Zoom.

In a letter to AIPS President Gianni Merlo, Bach conveyed his congratulations to all the participants of the project for their incredible contribution in spreading the Olympic spirit by sharing the Olympic stories of their respective countries and proposed having a Q&A session with the young journalists.

“Let me congratulate AIPS and you personally on your remarkable initiative to have 100 young journalists from 100 countries telling more than 100 Olympic stories from their respective countries in 100 seconds. Please convey my heartfelt thanks and congratultions to all of them. AIPS, you personally, and the young journalists can be very proud of this work,” the IOC President wrote.

The young reporters are excitedly looking forward to this special opportunity to interact with the IOC President, who would like to “thank them personally”. The roundtable also offers them another chance to create more Olympic content for their media organisations.

THE AIPS CENTENNIAL PROJECT The “100 Olympic Stories told by 100 Young Reporters from 100 Nations in 100 Seconds” project, realised in partnership with the IOC and Getty Images, was launched on 2 July 2024 to mark the 100th anniversary of the AIPS. A total of 131 enthusiastic young reporters, all continents represented, took part in this cultural and educational initiative showcasing the iconic athletes and moments that have shaped the Olympic history of their respective countries. And gender parity among the participants of the project was also achieved naturally.

All videos are published on www.aips100.com.

“With interesting facts, each video delivers the diversity in our society in the different continents while also conveying the spirit of the Games that brings together the young generations with the aim of uniting the world," said AIPS President Merlo, who added that the initiative “is poised to have a lasting impact on every generation of sports enthusiasts.”

THE IOC AND GETTY IMAGES The AIPS President also hailed the significant contribution of the IOC and Getty Images, which gave the AIPS team access to their rich collection of videos and photos for the project.
