Giorgi Korsantia is delivering the goods

How good is Giorgi Korsantia?

Well, he sensational in his last Superleague campaign. Korsantia was a cornerstone for the title holder Kutaisi, while helping his team to remain as the top squad in Georgia.

Korsantia remains a double double machine. He averaged 20.2 points (first in Superleague) and 10.1 rebounds. His defense was never off the charts and Giorgi delivered when it mattered most.

Kutaisi has not been the undefeated team during the tiresome season. Superleague was balanced and deep, and Kutaisi had to claw back to remain focused and motivated. Of course, the lion share of that unique success belongs to the head coach Kote Tugushi, but Kote and the whole team needed the best possible Korsantia they could have imagined.

Superleague remains heavily affected by foreign players. Good or bad, but that is the reality we are living in. Teams need to stay in the upper league to get the coveted money from the Georgian Basketball Federation. Foreigners do not make a huge amount of money, but they are trusted and often, they deliver the goods.

But Korsantia was better than them. He was all over the league. He developed a respectable midrange shot, he can assist sometimes and his one on one game is improving fast.

When facing 0:2 deficit in the finals against TSU, Kote turned to his leaders and they delivered in a big way. Korsantia was perfect as he torched the opposition time and time again. Need a quick foul against? Pass the ball to Giorgi and he will find a contact. Need a big offensive rebound? Here is Korsantia! Need a good defensive stop? Well, just let him know and he will the rest.

So, he was there for his team and if Korsantia decides to stay in Georgia, Kutaisi will be the front runner for his services.

As for now, the best player in Superleague represented the reigning champion.
