The Cyprus Sports Writers Union (EAΚ) held its Annual General Assembly for 2025 on Tuesday, June 17, at the Olympic House in Nicosia. The assembly took place in an excellent atmosphere and was marked by a strong turnout of members.
The agenda included the annual report presented by president Erodotos Miltiadous, the financial report delivered by treasurer Marios Hadjistyllis, the announcement of the new members of the association by general secretary Marina Argyrou, and an open discussion among members, during which several important proposals were submitted for consideration by the Board of Directors.
The assembly was chaired by EAK honorary president Panayiotis Felloukas, with the presidium also comprising Yiannis Kouras, Demetra Nikolaou, and Theodoros Kombos. EAK legal advisors Yiannis and Michalis Ioannou were also in attendance.
The newly named members of EAK are Anastasia Karekla, Konstantinos Kyprianou, Giorgos Michailides, Pantelis Panteli, and Savvas Stavrou.
A minute of silence was observed at the beginning of the assembly in memory of EAK member Fevzi Beyar, who passed away in December.
In his report, president Erodotos Miltiadous offered a detailed overview of the Union's extensive activities over the past year. He placed special emphasis on employment-related issues, highlighting the notable success of the Unemployment List initiative, which has helped 12 colleagues secure positions over the last four years. He expressed gratitude to chief editors for their support.
Miltiadous also extended thanks to former EAK vice president Dimitris Dimitriou for donating the proceeds of his book “The Gods of Olympus” —supported by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) and OPAP —to EAK’s solidarity fund, which will also receive support from the Union’s legal advisors.
Treasurer Hadjistyllis reported a surplus in the annual financial balance, attributing the healthy fiscal state of the Union to strong support from its sponsors and partners.
EAK extended heartfelt thanks to its sponsors and supporters: OPAP Cyprus, Cytavision, Unicars, Bank of Cyprus, Hercules, Psaltis Auto Parts, and CNP CYPRIALIFE. Special thanks were also extended to the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) for its continued support of the annual Sports Awards Ceremony, as well as to long-standing partner the Cyprus Sports Organisation (KOA), and the Cyprus Olympic Committee for hosting the Union at the Olympic House.
