Sandro Mamukelashvili makes NBA history
Scoring has never been a problem for these San Antonio Spurs. Nor for Sandro Mamukelashvili.
Georgian National Team member scored a career-high 34 points un 19 minutes and became the first player in NBA history to score 34 points while playing less than 20 minutes. A banger! A steal. Sandro was the big boss and scored at will. He was 13 for 14 on field goals. And boy, he was punishing those pesky New York Knicks, while the Spurs stole the show and beat Knicks 120:105.
Mamukelashvili was 7 for 7 from 3-point range. He was a complete beast and added 9 rebounds and 3 assists, as Spurs, playing without Victor Wembanyama and De’Araron Fox, had a hell of a game.
Mamukelashvili had 13 points, 7 boards and an assists in 8 minutes in the first half. San Antonio was killing Knicks. And, the real massacre started in the last quarter: 21 (!) points for the Georgian forward, who is averaging 5.6 points and 2.6 rebounds for the season. This was the game for ages.
San Antonio had a 30:7 run, that put them ahead 61:35. Knicks closed the gap, but this game belonged to Spurs and Sandro. He was plain unstoppable.
The Spurs outhustled and outrebounded the Knicks 61:48. And, have in mind, that the team did not have a single player taller that 6 foot 9.
San Antonio is out of play offs and is more likely to miss the play inn as well. The team just lacks the defense without Wemby. Veteran Chris Paul added 12 points and 9 dimes in the win. Stephon Castle had 22 points. What a rookie!
And, on nights like that, the Spurs Nation can sleep well.
Sandro just buried those Knicks.
Well done, dude. Well done.
