Zurab Talakvadze

Grigol Gventsadze is the new president of Georgian Sports Journalists Association. The previous president, Mikheil Abaishvili was leading the way for the past 8 years and was a huge progressor together with his team.

On the conference defining a new president alongside with his new team (where almost everybody from the previous one were reselected as well), it was a sole candidate to represent himself: Grigol Gventsadze. He opened up his views way before the elections and took unprecedented amount of votes: 101.

Gventsadze is an experienced and beloved person in the world of Georgian journalism. He was one of the leading journalists in TV Imedi and later became the PR Manager of the most iconic Georgian football team: Dinamo Tbilisi. He is currently working for as a broadcaster for 1TV, while also becoming a very good publicist. Grigol presented his book about the magic adventures and life of Georgian NT football team and it’s supporters at the last European championships.

Grigol Gventsadze: First of all, I would like to thank my dear colleagues for their unanimous and unprecedented support. Also, my big respect goes to the team that has been leading the way for the last eight years. I am also part of this team and the current course will continue - on the way of expanding, refining and developing our organization. I hope that our cooperation with AIPS will continue, as we will settle many more goals and become stronger. We will put all the passion, experience and love for Sport’s Journalism to make it safer, more prestigious and respectful. Once again, my deepest respect to all of you, dear colleagues.

The main team of Gventsadze will remain unchanged. Bidzina Baratashvili and Tengiz Pachkoria will remain as vice-presidents, while Mikheil Abaishvili will continue as a vice-president as well.

Mikheil Abaishvili: It was a great honor and at the same time, a responsibility for me to lead the Georgian Sports Journalists Association. I am happy, that colleagues at the conference gave a positive assessment of my and my team's activities during the past 4 years. Today we elected a new president, Grigol Gventsadze, who is a truly worthy candidate and good friend of mine and together with his team, in which I also remain, will definitely continue the association's developing and progress’ process.

Zurab Talakvadze, Secretary General of the Georgian Sports Journalists Association for the past eight years, will remain at his respected job.
