Georgian handball is gaining the well deserved ground.

Georgian Sports Writers Association and AIPS member Levan Salukvadze was awarded with a Medal of Honor during the special meeting.

Salukvadze, who currently is one of the most important and creative forces at Silk Sport TV (most successful Georgian Sport TV), was one of the driving forces, that torpedoed Georgian Handball National Team’s success at international stage.

Well done, colleague! And, a great honor for Georgian and Worldwide journalists in all!

President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili also awarded the members of the National Men's Handball Team, coaches, staff, and leaders of the National Handball Federation with Orders of Honor and Medals of Honor.

The Head of Government congratulated the members of the national men's handball team, coaches and representatives of the National Handball Federation on receiving these awards and wished them success.

"We can only say words of gratitude for the success you have achieved. We have been waiting for 30 years to qualify for the European Championship, and it is your generation that has achieved this great success, which is only the beginning of a new stage of development that should bring even greater success to Georgian handball. Georgian handball has very long traditions and, of course, the further success of our handball should be based on these traditions," said The Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

The Prime Minister thanked the handball players, Federation President Vakhtang Meipariani, Head Coach Tite Kalandadze, as well as each employee of the Federation for their successes and spoke about the government's plans in the direction of sports.

"One of our main priorities and tasks is to promote the development of sports infrastructure. Along with the success of sports, interest in sports is growing, especially among children, which I am very proud of. We have already announced a 2-billion project, within the framework of which a completely new infrastructure will be created, which will be intended for both high-performance sports and mass sports. Special attention will be paid to the development of handball within the framework of this project," Irakli Kobakhidze said.

Georgian Handball is reaching a new level.
