Manuchar Markoishvili always gets the job done
During his days with Georgian National team, Manuchar Markoishvili has always been praised as a hard worker and the example for the young generation. Well, he was always on a mission. Manuchar was a good soldier in every club and on every level.
Manu serves as an assistant coach in the French side AS Monaco. Greek legend Vassilis Spanoulis was appointed as a head coach and Manuchar regained his job as an assistant (alongside Ilias Kantsouris from Greece, Sergiy Gladyr from Ukraine and Mirko Ocokolic from Serbia). Soon after his retirement he was appointed as an assistant coach in the Georgian National team and Monaco came across as well.
Manuchar has always been a hard worker. Since the early days with a Georgian side Basco (Batumi). Later, Markoishvili became a trusted warrior in almost every team he has signed with. He was recruited by Italian side Benetton Treviso and later spent some time on a loan in Germany (Mitteldeutcher). He won FIBA Europe Cup with that team and later moved on to represent Slovenian giant Olimpija Ljubljana.
Manuchar brings a true grit to Monaco. Always a vocal leader in a locker room, Markoishvili’s team boasts a lot of talent, but still lacks that elusive championship character. Spanoulis was brought in to bring the pain of losing to an end. Manu will be a perfect feat to him.
Markoishvili was a popular choice for the Italian side Cantu, where he spent five productive seasons (2009-2013). He moved on to Turkish titan Galatasaray only to be thrown to the Russian powerhouse CSKA (Moscow). AT the age of 32, he announced his retirement. What a career it was!
Always ready to be thrown in a lion’s cage, Manu was the best defender for the Georgian NT. He brings that same quality as a coach in Monaco. His team needs that. Mike James, the most talented (and the reigning MVP of Euroleague) player on Monaco needs that. Spanoulis does, too.
The sky is the limit for Monaco.
And, Manu, always a trusted and a respected one, will get better with the team.
