Luxembourg Association of Sports Press
Association Luxembourgeoise de la Presse Sportive

After two constituent assemblies, the Luxembourg Association of Sports Journalists (ALJS)  was founded in  December 1929. The great initiator was Alphonse Steines (Steinès with a grave accent on the e for the French), collaborator of Henri Desgrange at the Tour de France and "inventor" of the Pyrenees in 1910.

The first committee, with Leopold Goebel (president), Jacques Dieschbourg (vice-president), Pierre Kellner (secretary) and Alphonse Braun (treasurer), drew up the statutes which were adopted at a general meeting in January 1930.

Shortly afterwards, the ALJS was admitted to the  International Sports Press Association (AIPS) , itself founded during the Paris Olympic Games in 1924.

In 1975, the Luxembourg Association of Sports Journalists (ALJS) changed its name to the  Luxembourg Association of Sports Press (ALPS).

For almost a century, sportspress.lu has brought together journalists and players in the Luxembourg sports press around a common mission: to inform, tell stories and promote sport in all its forms.

From its beginnings in 1929 to the present day, the association has been a part of the great moments in national and international sport, while upholding the values of independence, rigor, and passion.
